Email Notifications For My Blog

I have a gotten a few requests from people to get my blog posts via email update, so I thought I would provide a short guide. Unfortunately, this just gives a guide on how to connect the atom/RSS feed to a service that will provide email updates via blogtrottr. It won’t allow you to have any granularity in filtering, so you would get my musings, as well as mathematics posts, and personal posts. Hopefully something will interest you if you sign up though.

This month I am planning on releasing the following 2-3 blog posts: A review of quality media I’ve seen in the last year, an update on how my health has changed in the last year (it has improved a lot), and if there is time a general post about the trajectory of my health/life.

Short Instructions for Blogtrottr Set up

  1. Open up blogtrottr.com.
  2. Fill in https://leoalcock.org/feed.xml and your-email-address@emailprovider.com in the two open text-boxes on the site and click confirm.
  3. Check your email for a confirmation from blogtrottr and click the confirm-subscription link in the email and then click confirm on the site that opens up.

That’s it! I have the instructions with images below if that helps.

Setting it up with Blogtrottr With Images

1. Open up blogtrottr.com, and you should see something that looks like the following:

2. Fill in the details https://leoalcock.org/feed.xml and your-email-address@emailprovider.com into the fields and then click feed me as follows:

3. Next, go to your email inbox and find the following email from blogtrottr, follow the link on the email, and click confirm:

If everything worked as intended you should see this screen last, and you are done!

You can also set the digest to be every 24 hours, but I don’t expect to post a blog post more than once every few weeks. I don’t think it would make a difference either way.

When I come out with a new post, you should get an email that looks like the image below. I’d recommend clicking the link at the top. Here it is Email Notifications For My Blog. This way you can read it on my website, and it will render correctly.
